Stuff at the fair:

DSCF4523
Let's start with goats in t-shirts.

DSCF4534
Horses!

DSCF4535
Little horses!

DSCF4543
Fluorescent minerals!

DSCF4546
BUNNIES!

DSCF4551

DSCF4562
There's a guinea pig in there somewhere.

DSCF4565
Four out of four bunnies prefer this corner.

DSCF4572
Giant mobile in the small-animal barn.

DSCF4579

DSCF4593
I love green gladiolas.

DSCF4598
"Sticks on fire" amuse me enough that I feel compelled to announce "sticks on fire!" every time we pass a garden in our complex that has some. This is an individual stick on fire. An award-winning stick on fire.

The flower arrangements are interesting because they usually leave out the card with the judges' comments. The frame on this one was said to be distracting. I suppose I agree, but it's what made me come over to look in the first place.

DSCF4608
A diner scene, with everything made out of flowers. The stools, the pies, the sundaes, all flowers.

DSCF4631
In the garden area they also have bonsai, and Hon Non Bo, and... this thing that is about rock appreciation. Here are some rocks to appreciate.

DSCF4630
The little one in its little individual dish of sand was oddly intriguing.

DSCF4632

DSCF4638
I couldn't take pictures in the painting exhibit, but outside they had a place where you could make your own art on little cards.

DSCF4645
Hi, Peaches!

DSCF4647

DSCF4796
We celebrated our nation's birthday by watching people partake in the great American tradition of smashing cars.

DSCF4798

DSCF4810
These llamas were named Moonspinner and Bouquet d'Amour. Really.

DSCF4818
Bandaloni, the one-man band.

DSCF4820

DSCF4629
GIANT HOT DOG. It was kind of disturbing to behold, actually.

DSCF4821
GIANT TURKEY LEG. Overhyped.

DSCF4830

DSCF4530

DSCF4831
A flower basket... made out of tiny cupcakes.

DSCF4832
Let's smash some more cars!

DSCF4835

DSCF4844
Chapman stick guy. We see him at the fair every year, usually multiple times. It's nice mellow music to listen to while sitting in the garden.

DSCF4854
This year's fair theme was cars, so they had a special car exhibit. This was a custom Star Wars car.

DSCF4855

DSCF4857
Teeny tiny smart car.

DSCF4860
Herbie!

It is, as you can tell, a very big fair. It runs for a good three weeks, there's enough stuff going on there to fill a couple of days (which we did). The food was a little disappointing this year, though I suppose any year when Ken doesn't get food poisoning is a good year. At least we did end with... wait for it...

DSCF4641
MINI DONUTS.

Until next year!

EXCELLENT POST. You always have such great pics. So tell me more about the farm animals wearing clothes. And give me a little flower cup cake.

Needless to say, your county fair is much more impessive than the St. Marys County, MD fair. This was a great picspam, though! I want to teleport there right now and enjoy the NOTABLE PLANT.

I'm in love with this post. The animals, the flowers, everything! Also! Little Metal Rooster reminded me of Giant Metal Chicken (http://thebloggess.com/2011/06/and-thats-why-you-should-learn-to-pick-your-battles/).

Oh good, I'm glad you mentioned that before I did, because I wasn't sure how to explain it.

"Knock-knock, motherfucker."

That still makes me giggle.

Hahaha! I figured that kind of comment left by me would be completely bewildering! :D I STILL can't stop laughing at that!

This post made me smile. I love fairs - animals in clothing, flowers and crafts and strange food. And smashing cars! What more could you want?

I'm really hungry now. I need some mini donuts. I'd also like a Notable Plant and that very cool metal bike/plant container.

Those cupcakes! I wish I had that kind of decorating skill.

This whole entry is making me wish the Topsfield Fair was this big. Our big state fair is practically in New York, so I've never been.
