Apple review: Autumn Glory
Apr. 12th, 2018 02:00 pmI was happy to find one of these again, because I bought one a couple of months ago and let it get too old before I tried it.
It makes some extravagant promises:

I have my doubts.
"Autumn Glory apples have a very sweet, firm flesh with hints of cinnamon and subtle notes of caramel. Some describe it as tasting like apple sauce while some say it tastes just like apple cider; regardless of how you describe it, Autumn Glory apples have an intense "apple" flavor you'll love."

Verdict: Ugh. I suppose it does have some faint cider notes, but mostly it just seems very watery/diluted. It's not very sweet; it's not very flavorful at all. The skin is tough and chewy, so every bite leaves me with a mouthful of skin at the end. I know it's not high season for these things, but this is the worst apple I've had yet. Only Red Delicious, looming somewhere ahead, has a realistic chance of beating it to the bottom of the rankings.
Buy again? No. For the first time, I couldn't finish an apple.
