Apple review: Honeycrisp
Apr. 16th, 2018 01:56 pmIt's been a while since I had a Honeycrisp. There's no fancy website for these, but Specialty Produce says "Their creamy white flesh is exceptionally crisp and aromatic. A balanced content of sugar and acid gives Honeycrisp apples a pleasant sweet-tart flavor that varies in strength depending upon the maturity of the apple." Adam says "The flavor is super sweet with very little balancing tartness and negligible acidity; there are accents of pear and melon."

Verdict: The Honeycrisp I had today was watery-sweet with little to recommend it. The first bite had some apple flavor; the rest... not so much. I suppose you could imagine a hint of melon if you're generous. I do think they're sometimes better than this, but I'd just as soon eat a Braeburn. A BRAEBURN.
Buy again? No, but I might give it a second chance if I see ones that look good. People do apparently like these things for some reason.
And now I am OUT OF APPLES. I was going to see if Trader Joe's had anything interesting, but we might not grocery shop tonight. What will I eat??
