Columbine is right on with his comments about why making a CD isn't nearly as much fun as making a tape. Having experienced this last night, I was all set to write an entry saying almost exactly the same thing; I, however, never get around to writing journal entries, so I can't really say he beat me to it. But he's right.

Tapes are more fun to record and more music can be got onto a 90-minute tape, but the big downside for me is (though this doesn't impact on the making) that cassettes are more ephemeral than CDs. After about 20 years or so the glue on the little spongy bit at the head fails, the spongy bit drops off and the tape is a duffer.

I wasn't aware that such surgery would work! Anyway, the tape that it happened to me with is just a tape of an old vinyl, so I found the mp3s online and downloaded them instead :-)
